On November 4th, 2008 the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, sent an urgent telegram announcing the postponement of the culture, sports and tourism festival of ethnic minority groups in the Northern region because of the heavy rains and flooding. As previously scheduled, the 6th Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of Ethnic Minority Groups in the Northeastern Region and the 3rd Culture Festival of Bac Giang Province was to have taken place in Bac Giang Province between November 8th and 10th, 2008.
However, the heavy rains and flooding over the past several days in many provinces and cities in Northern Vietnam have greatly affected the regions socio-economics as well as the lives of local people.
Confronted with the situation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to delay the festival.
A new date and schedule will be announced by the organizing board later. |
